College Preparatory

In addition to our innovative and exciting programs, Sarasota Community School follows the State of Florida’s guidelines for a college preparatory program.

We have an aggressive college placement program to assist our students and we offer all eligible students review courses in the SAT. Average SAT scores for our students rank well above the national average.

For students who require challenge beyond a high school curriculum or who have met academic requirements but may not yet be emotionally ready to make the leap to college, Sarasota Community School offers transferable college classes through a relationship with Manatee Community College.

At last, your child is in a safe and supportive environment. The energy that once consumed the good in your child is now channeled into positive academic and creative endeavors.

Sarasota Community School provides an environment in which students can excel in academics and creative programs.

Ours is a year-round school. The academic calendar is divided into two semesters and runs from September to June, with a January term for make-up work and special courses.

The program is challenging and classes are small. The academic day consists of six 45 minute classes, including physical activities daily. Most of our instructors reside very near campus and are readily available for tutoring sessions as needed.

For students with major learning differences, specialists are engaged on an as-needed basis.

Our experience has proven that when our students are challenged academically, they become motivated to achieve and soon experience increased confidence. To stimulate the learning process, we provide students the opportunity to participate in exciting academic and creative programs called "intensives." These courses emphasize experiential learning, because we believe that knowledge is incomplete without experience and creativity.

We offer our students a variety of extraordinary programs, including wilderness adventures, travel, theater, and culinary arts classes (to name a few). At Sarasota Community School, we have found that such opportunities contribute to each student’s growth and sense of accomplishment.
